CHC50113 DIPLOMA OF EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND CARE

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This qualification reflects the role of early childhood educators who are responsible for designing and implementing curriculum in early childhood education and care services. In doing so they work to implement an approved learning framework within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. They may have responsibility for the supervision of volunteers or other staff. Under the Education and Care Services National Law (2011) the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) publishes lists of approved early childhood education and care qualifications and information regarding regulatory requirements.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must demonstrate a capacity to undertake study by providing the following requirements:

Minimum Age18 years of over at the time of commencement
Academic LevelYear 12 or equivalent high school certificate
English LanguageIELTS Test Score of 5.5 or equivalent (TOEFL IBT 65 / PTE Academic 42 / Cambridge English – FCE / OET C Grade / TOEFL PBT 513 / TOEIC 605) English language test scores
LLN AssessmentComplete Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment for identifying if prospective individual required LLN support

STUDY MODE

The delivery methods include face-to-face classroom learning, 6 hours per week of online participation, blended learning, projects, practical training and assessment at a childcare center. There is a work-based training component that requires you to undertake 300 mandatory work placement hours (15 weeks @ 20 hours per week). The students must obtain a Current Working with Children Check prior to placement with a Work Based Training host employer.

ASSESSMENT

Students will be assessed in a variety of ways that may include, written answers, quizzes, practical demonstrations and observations.

AWARD REQUIREMENTS

Students will need to successfully complete all units in this course to receive a certificate. Those students who completed individual units will receive a Statement of Attainment for units successfully completed

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL OR CREDIT TRANSFER (CT)

Recognition is available to students with prior skills, experience, knowledge or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training in related areas. Recognition may reduce the duration of your studies.

CAREER PROSPECT

This qualification enables the student to seek employment in the following job roles: Early learning centre room leader/supervisor, Children’s services assistant manager, Early childhood educator, Family day care educator, Nanny, Playgroup supervisor, Preschool educator, Education leader, Outside School hours care, Co-ordinator/Supervisor.

FUTURE STUDIES

After completing CHC50113 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care you may progress to Bachelor of Education at University.
